One of the most common effects of UV exposure is "erythema," or sunburn. This happens when your skin cells damaged by the energy absorption of UV rays. When this happens, your skin sends extra blood to your damaged skin, trying to repair it; this causes the redness.

- Avoid being directly in the sun for extended periods of time (and especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.)
- Apply sunscreen every two hours
- Choose a sunscreen that is non-comedogenic so you can use it on your face and also oil free
- Avoid tanning beds.
