Asian Blepharoplasty healing time
In Asian blepharoplasty (double-eyelid surgery) Dr. Azizzadeh creates a pretarsal crease in the upper eyelid that is often absent in the eyes of Asian patients. Many have a “single eyelid” which does not appear to have a crease when the eye is open. Most Asian patients who elect to have this surgery are not seeking to modify their ethnic appearance, but rather remove the puffy and tired look associated with a fatty upper lid and create a brighter, more open-looking eye.
How is the surgery done?
Our office performs double-eyelid surgery using one of two techniques:
What is the healing process?
Most patients can return to work in two days after Asian blepharoplasty surgery and can expect recovery after two weeks. However, because Asian eyelid skin is more “reactive” than Occidental skin, you may stay swollen or reddened for a longer time than regular blepharoplasty surgery (up to six to eight weeks). The crease position and shape will vary as the eyes continue to heal. By six months they eyes should reach their final configuration.

Our office performs double-eyelid surgery using one of two techniques:
- Open method – skin of the upper lid is removed and some of the upper lid structures shortened or rearranged
- Suture method – a small incision is made in the natural crease to excise a small amount of fat and muscle
