Ethnic Rhinoplasty vs. Non-Ethnic Rhinoplasty
One of the most common plastic surgery procedures is the “nose job,” (rhinoplasty). The key to creating a natural-looking nose is for Dr. Azizzadeh to examine you thoroughly and create an individualized preoperative plan to address your specific aesthetic issues. There are many cosmetic and physical differences to take into account when planning ethnic rhinoplasty surgery for any patient. Factors that may vary significantly by ethnicity include:
What is the recovery time?
Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure with recovery time lasting 1-2 weeks. Follow-up is a critical component of rhinoplasty as the nose will continue to improve over first 12 months. Rhinoplasty requires a long-term commitment by you and Dr. Azizzadeh to ensure a satisfactory outcome.

How does an ethnic nose differ from a non-ethnic nose?

- Thickness and fatty content of the skin
- Weaker cartilage
- Angle at which the nose projects from the skull (radix or root)
- Size, proportion and angle of the nasal bridge (top part of the nose)
- Size, shape and proportion of the tip (end of the nose)
- Angle, thickness and shape of the base and nostrils
- Nasolabial junction (where the base of the nose meets the upper lip)
- Size, shape and placement of the maxilla (upper jaw that connects to the nose)
