More and More Men Seeking Cosmetic Surgery

Liposuction for the Neck?

Many of you have heard of liposuction for areas of the body that are stubborn to weight loss measures and exercise. Women and men often have liposuction performed on their abdomens, hips, thighs, and buttocks. But how many of you know that liposuction can now be performed in the neck region?

As we age, certain areas of our body accumulate fat that is very difficult to lose in spite of a healthy diet and vigorous exercise. Fat deposits in the neck can make you appear much older than you actually are. Liposuction of the neck can give that area of your face and neck a more contoured look, enhance your facial features and even improve your profile. Dr. Azizzadeh utilizes a unique liposuction cannula that produces additional tightening to the area. When Dr. Azizzadeh performs neck liposuction on his patients, they are more than satisfied and thrilled with their new look.

The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia. Dr. Azizzadeh then marks the areas of the neck region where he is to remove fat. Dr. Azizzadeh makes a tiny incision in the skin, usually just under the chin or behind the ear lobes. A thin tube is inserted into the fatty area, and the tube (cannula) is used to break up the fat and sculpt the area to your desired look. A high pressure vacuum removes the excess fat and leaves the skin, muscles and nerves intact.

Get to Know Your Cosmetic Surgeon

When we are interested in buying a product or service, we almost always sample that product or service in some way. We like to know what we are investing our money in and what we can expect from our purchase. We test drive cars before we buy them, we sit on furniture before committing to the purchase, we even sample makeup before deciding which shade and name brand is right for us. We go through the research process to help ensure we find the right product or service for our individual needs. But how many people put the same effort into finding the right physician as they do in finding the right car, recliner, or lipstick?

When contemplating cosmetic surgery, it is absolutely imperative that you prepare a list of questions for your prospective surgeon and get to know them, their background and experience, their style of interacting with patients, and their most-oft and most successfully performed surgeries or procedures. Your life will be in his or her hands as there are risks involved with any surgery, no matter how minor, and you have a right to know everything that pertains to your surgery.

  • And, of course, anything else that comes to mind

Be wary of a surgeon who discourages questions or does not answer them clearly and in terms you can understand. Remember that this is your life, and you have every right to know what to expect before, during and after your surgery.
