Forehead/Brow Lift

As we age, the skin of the brow and forehead area begins to lose its elasticity, resulting in frown lines, wrinkling and heaviness in the eyebrows. In a forehead lift (or brow lift), Dr. Azizzadeh tightens loose skin and removes the excess to create a smoother brow and more youthful expression. A forehead lift will help:
  • Improve vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Minimize forehead wrinkling or creases
  • Reposition drooping/heavy eyebrows

How is the surgery performed?
Our office utilizes two different methods for this procedure, depending on each patient’s unique situation. In one procedure, an incision is made across the entire top of the scalp, beginning above the ears and hidden near the hairline. Dr. Azizzadeh can then modify or remove muscles that cause wrinkling, remove excess skin and lift eyebrows.

In a different procedure, small incisions are made just at the hairline through which a surgical video device (endoscope) is inserted, allowing Dr. Azizzadeh to reposition, alter or remove tissue and muscle beneath the skin via special instruments. This corrects the underlying source of visible creases and wrinkles in the forehead. Recovery time is often shorter in the endoscopic forehead lift because the incisions are smaller.

This procedure takes between one to two hours to perform and is commonly performed under IV sedation or twilight anesthesia.

What is the recovery like?
Patients typically experience swelling and bruising in the 10-day period following surgery. As the incisions heal, numbness and itching are common, but this diminishes with time. For most patients, the recovery time will not exceed two weeks, but patients may still be advised to avoid strenuous activities for longer periods.

What is a Liquid Facelift?

If you are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the appearance of your face due to the natural aging process, but you aren’t fully committed to undergo invasive facial plastic surgery, you may be a good candidate for a liquid facelift.

As we age, the face begins to lose elasticity and collagen (volume) which can lead to facial sagging, wrinkles and creases. A liquid facelift uses the combination of advanced dermal fillers (such as Juvedermtm Ultra, Juvedermtm Ultra Plus, Radiesse®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Sculptra®) and BOTOX® that is injected into the skin to lift and contour the face. A secondary benefit? Reduction of wrinkles and lines in the face!

What areas of the face can be improved?
Dr. Azizzadeh can use liquid facelift procedures on the entire face or in targeted areas to:
  • Lift eyelids, creating brighter, more open eyes
  • Mask bags under the eyes
  • Eliminate jowls
  • Restore flattened cheeks or temples
  • Lift corners of the mouth area
  • Restore natural curved facial contours
  • Create a more energetic appearance
  • Reduce wrinkles and creases

How long is the process? How long will the effects last?
Individual procedures can take as little as 10 minutes or as long as an hour to complete. Liquid facelift results are usually visible instantly. Our patients can expect results to last anywhere from four months to two years, depending on the procedure.

Aging Eye Solutions

The eyes are a focal point on your face…they twinkle, they “light up your face,” they “have it!” As we age, the skin surrounding our eyes changes (sagging skin, loss of skin elasticity, drooping eyebrows and cheek fat pads, weakness of supporting eyelid structures and puffiness under the eyes), which can make you appear less lively

Dr. Azizzadeh offers many different surgical and non-surgical options to improve the appearance of the eyes and create a more youthful face.
  • Blepharoplasty (eyelift) surgery – the removal of significant skin, fat and muscle, which can result in hollowness of the eyes and unnatural “cat-like” corners of the eyes
  • Correction/revision blepharoplasty surgery – cosmetic or functional surgery for those unhappy with the outcome of eyelift surgery
  • Asian blepharoplasty – surgically creating a crease in the eyelid to create the double eyelid fold that is a sought-after feature in Asian cultures
  • Mini eyelid lift – usually restricted to correcting issues with either upper or lower eyelids, not the entire eye
  • Restylane, Juvederm, Botox or fat transfer volume restoration – injectables to improve the hollowness of the lower eyes and the laxity of the upper eyelids
  • Temple rejuvenation – a collagen stimulator, Sculptra, fills in the hollowness in the temple region and gently lifts the brow

In some patients we also perform forehead lift (or brow lift) or mid-facelift procedures to get the desired outcome. Dr. Azizzadeh will analyze your unique facial structure to decide the best surgical or non-surgical options.

To discuss which type of eye cosmetic surgery procedure would be best for you, please contact our office today for an initial consultation.

Facelift vs. Mini Facelift

Which procedure is right for you?

There are many environmental and biological factors that influence how a person ages over time…especially in the face and neck area. Sun exposure, genes, personal habits (smoking, excess alcohol consumption, etc.) and gravity all contribute to loose skin, wrinkles, deep folds, jowls and more. If the visible signs of aging make you uncomfortable with your appearance, a facelift may be the answer. The question is: Do you need a full facelift or will you be satisfied with a mini facelift?

How is a facelift different from the “mini” version?
Dr. Azizzadeh performs traditional facelift surgery on patients who wish to reduce wrinkles and sagging throughout the entire face and neck. In contrast, the mini facelift targets only specific areas in the lower third of the face including the jowls and neck (not the forehead or brow).

What are the advantages of a mini facelift?
Mini facelifts are also referred to as “weekend facelifts” since they are generally associated with shorter surgery time and quicker recovery. We can target specific problem areas and even prevent the signs of aging before they become readily apparent. Mini facelifts also cost less than full facelifts.

Patients in their 30s and 40s who are just beginning to experience the first signs of aging and who don’t want to undergo intensive surgery are good candidates for a mini facelift. There are also other non-surgical options available to slow down the aging process, such as:
  • Sun protection regimen
  • Tobacco cessation
  • Skin care consultation with professional aesthetician
  • BOTOX®
  • Collagen/Cosmoplast
  • Soft tissue augmentation and fillers
  • Juvederm
