Revision Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid surgery, corrects issues related to excess fat and wrinkles around the eyes. In a lower lid blepharoplasty, the fat underneath the eyelid is redistributed for a more natural look. Excess fat is also removed through a small incision made in the upper eyelid, along with sutures to tighten the skin around the eye. Because this area is covered by eyelashes, the scars are virtually invisible. The combination of these two procedures can combat unwanted dark circles and excess skin around the eyes, in effect turning back the clock for eyes that are more youthful and alert.
Sometimes, a blepharoplasty may be unsuccessful. When this happens, Dr. Azizzadeh must perform a revision Blepharoplasty. The need for revision Blepharoplasty can occur after a poorly performed initial procedure or after several years of additional aging.
Typical functional problems stemming from a poorly performed initial procedure include:
Revision blepharoplasty is a more delicate and difficult procedure than the first. Patients should have realistic expectations about the outcome and realize that a secondary procedure creates many challenges. Scar tissue formed after the initial surgery is more difficult for the surgeon to work with, and patients may find that it takes longer to heal after a secondary procedure.
Please contact Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Babak Azizzadeh today to learn more about the revision facelift.

- Inability to close the eyes completely, because too much skin was removed
- An unnaturally rounded shape to the corners of the eyes
- An asymmetrical look to the eyes, causing irritation and dry eyes

Rhinoplasty: a Gateway Cosmetic Procedure for Men
Historically, men are thought not to really care about their looks. The Marlboro man was rough and tough and looked like a saddlebag with eyes. Even when cosmetic surgery boomed for women, men still avoided making improvements to their appearance, considering it to be unmanly. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 74,000 men had nose reshaping in 2007. Each year, rhinoplasty is the number one procedure for men.
Even if you are a manly sort of guy, having a nose job is more acceptable than many other cosmetic procedures. Maybe you broke your nose when you were a kid and enjoyed the tough look it gave you. As you get older however, difficulty breathing, constant stuffiness, and the asymmetry of your face may start to bother you. A rhinoplasty is an obvious consideration. No one would blame you if you had your nose redone for those reasons. Since men are more susceptible to misshapen noses as they go through life, they are more willing to accept rhinoplasty as a viable treatment option.
Once you see the improvements to your appearance, you may actually consider making improvements to other areas you have not thought of before. If you look angry all the time, Botox treatments, or injectible fillers might be in order. Not to say that cosmetic procedures are addictive, but a rhinoplasty may just serve as a gateway to expanding your horizons to choose additional cosmetic treatments to help you improve your appearance.
Men, when seeking out a qualified cosmetic surgeon in the Beverly Hills area, look no further than Dr. Babak Azizzadeh. Dr. Azizzadeh specializes in facial plastic surgery. Please contact him today to find out more about rhinoplasty or other facial cosmetic procedures.

Operation of Hope to Honor Dr. Azizzadeh on October 4th
Operation of Hope, a volunteer surgical team that travels to underdeveloped countries to perform cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial reconstructive surgeries for people in need, plans to honor one of its members, our own Dr. Azizzadeh at the gala event Night of Smiles on October 4th. Dr. Azizzadeh will be given a VISION AWARD for improving the life of a young boy named Beloved.
Beloved was only 10, a young boy playing in the long grass with his friends, when he came across what he thought was a transistor radio. As he attempted to get a signal from the radio, it exploded. Beloved joined the millions of victims of an inhumane form of warfare: landmines. Local doctors were able to reconstruct his mouth by using a portion of his stomach lining, but for six years he lived with a highly disfigured mouth that had limited functionality. Responding to the pleas of the boy's mother, Operation of Hope transported Beloved to the United States where Drs. Keith Blackwell and Azizzadeh donated their time and talent to perform an extraordinary reconstructive procedure to help his mouth look more normal and function better.
We are proud to work with Dr. Azizzadeh, a plastic surgeon of not just extraordinary talent, but of extraordinary heart as well. Thank you, Dr. Azizzadeh, for your gift of hope that in a world of war where innocents are too often the victims, there are those who seek to undo the collateral damage.

Evolence®
Injectable fillers are consistently a very popular cosmetic surgery procedure, of the non-invasive kind. Evolence® is a new filler based on collagen which has had great success. Dr. Azizzadeh has been one of the first cosmetic surgeons in the U.S. to offer it since it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July, 2008.
Collagen is a natural protein produced in the body. It is fibrous and strong and gives support to youthful skin. Beneath the skin’s top layer is the dermis, the middle layer with many structures such as blood vessels and hair follicles. It also contains a sort of scaffolding made of collagen and elastin – a substance which gives the skin elasticity. The collagen and elastin weave together to support the skin and maintain its smooth top surface.
As the body ages, it produces less collagen, so that small gaps form in the support matrix. The skin sinks into them, and this is one cause of wrinkle formation. To some extent this reduced collagen is unavoidable as we age, although smoking and sun damage are factors we can control.
Evolence contains collagen which has been cross-linked so that it matches the natural collagen matrix. When Dr. Azizzadeh injects it into the dermis, it blends easily with the existing matrix to increase support for the skin.
Now the skin has a new smoothness and fresh, youthful appearance. One visit is often enough, although some people come for two treatments. Results last for six months or a little longer. There is no downtime after your treatment, and you can go straight back to work or other daily activity.
