Facial implants are formed from a safe, solid silicone material. A silicone cheek or chin implant will look and feel just like your natural facial features.

Cheek and chin implants

The two primary types of facial implants are cheek and chin implants.

Cheek implants are an excellent choice to provide definition and structure to the cheekbone. Placed under the eyes and along your natural cheekbone, a cheek implant can fill out hollowed features to give you defined cheekbones, and balance the rest of your facial features.

Chin implants are an effective option to correct the appearance of a weak chin, strengthening the profile and giving proper proportion to the face.

The facial implant procedure

In most cases, your facial implant procedure will be performed under general anesthesia.

The procedure itself may take from half an hour to an hour, depending on the type of implant. During the procedure, the surgeon will make a small incision along the inside of your lower lip or under the chin for chin implants; and along the inside of your lower eyelid, or the inside of your upper lip for cheek implants. These incisions will leave no visible scarring. The patient and doctor will select the correct size and shape of the implant before the procedure. The doctor will then gently insert the implant through this incision, adjusting as needed for optimum results.
