Medical Missions for Children

In Beverly Hills and serving the Los Angeles area

Medical Missions for Children (MMFC) is a non profit organization which provides free surgical, medical, and dental care to underprivileged children and young adults in third-world countries. MMFC is comprised of a dedicated group of volunteer surgeons, medical specialists, dentists, and nurses. The major emphasis of each mission is to provide reconstructive surgical care to children with severe congenital deformities such as clefts of the lip and palate, burn injuries, facial trauma, and head & neck cancer.

Clefts of the lip and palate are common congenital disorders. About 1 in 700 children are born with such deformities, with the incidence being much higher in certain parts of the world. Cleft lip and palate deformity is debilitating to the children and devastating to the family. The affected child's nutritional status and ability to communicate are greatly hindered. In many cases, both the child and their family become social outcasts.

Dr. Azizzadeh is an active member of MMFC. In the upcoming year, he will spend several weeks traveling to rural Peru and Ecuador to dedicate his time for these disadvantaged children. He is also actively involved in fund-raising efforts for this organization. Dr. Azizzadeh will be hosting a wine tasting gala in the spring-time to raise money for MMFC.
