Questions about Skin Resurfacing
In Beverly Hills and serving the Los Angeles area
Is skin resurfacing right form me?
Skin resurfacing may be performed at any age. It works best if you suffer from the following symptoms:
- Sun damaged skin
- Wrinkled skin
- Vertical wrinkles around your mouth
- Crow's feet or laugh lines
- Age spots
- Scar tissue
- Other fine wrinkles
The skin resurfacing can clear away these minor wrinkles and blemishes, giving you a more youthful and healthy appearance.
How many skin resurfacing options are there?
There are several options available for updating your skin. Some of the most popular options are:
- Chemical peel
- Microderm abrasion
- Laser resurfacing
Depending on your particular condition and overall skin health, Dr. Azizzadeh will help you determine which treatment will work best for you.
Are these procedures painful?
It depends on the type of treatment you have and the depth of the treatment. If it is more superficial, the pain may approximate a minor sunburn and last a day or so. For deeper treatments the pain may last a little longer and your skin may feel tight for several weeks as your newer, younger skin appears. In some cases Dr. Azizzdeh may recommend local or even general anesthesia during the procedure to reduce the pain. Over the counter pain relievers will generally help with post procedure pain.
How long to treatments last?
Treatments that are more superficial may need to be repeated every few months. Deeper resurfacing techniques may last considerably longer depending on a variety of factors like overall skin health, genetics, exposure to the sun. In many cases resurfacing will last from four to six months. Smoking after skin resurfacing treatments is not a good way to maintain your youthful new looks.
How do I care for my skin after treatment?
A day or so after surgery your skin will turn a faint pink, or even a slight brown as the dead skin layer peels away. Dr. Azizzadeh will instruct you on how to wash your face gently with mild cleansers and cool water. Typically you will apply an ointment to keep the skin moist. Treatments that are more extensive may require dressings, which will need to be changed on a regular basis for the first few days after the procedure. The skin will heal in about two weeks, but redness may persist.
When seeking to reverse the signs of aging in the Beverly Hills area, please contact Dr. Azizzadeh to schedule an initial consultation. He will go over all your options in skin resurfacing techniques to help you achieve a more youthful and healthy appearance.
